Carmichael SDA Church Bulletin
Think back on the last big choice you made - what helped you make the decision? Maybe you did some research or asked trusted friends for advice. Maybe you spent time agonizing over the choices or just ripped off the metaphorical bandaid and picked something so you could move on. We all approach life’s choices differently but the fact remains that once we choose we face the consequences for good or bad - take backs are not common.
In our text this week Moses speaks on behalf of the Creator and asks the people to make a choice - for life or death. That’s serious. Also kind of weird right? Why would anyone not choose life? But if our recent exploration of the Genesis origin story tells us anything it’s the shocking reality we really do feel in our bones - humans have become confused and disoriented and tend to choose death in the little daily decisions we make. The Creator, the good Shepherd is trying to guide us space mammals back to the path of life and peace and joy - all the things we long for and only find with Him.
As we gather this week to take communion we celebrate the choice God made - He chose you. May we be humble enough to take His advice and choose life, and choose Him back. We look forward to being together this Sabbath and hope you’ll join us.
